Why are some of my bills estimated?
Niccolo is committed to only charging you for energy you actually use. To do it, however, it is important that you regularly submit your meter readings. You should do it every month. If you fail to provide us with meter readings, we might have to prepare your bill based on an estimate. The estimated readings are based on your past consumption, but it can happen that they are higher or lower than what you actually used that month.
If you received an estimated bill and you think it is not accurate, get in touch on 01316108868. If you submit an actual meter reading, we might be able to update your recond and amend your energy bill.
Why does my bill include a charge for CCL?
Climate Change Levy (CCL) is a tax on energy delivered to businesses in the UK. It was introduced to encourage companies to be more energy-efficient and reduce their carbon emissions. All businesses that pay the standard VAT rate (20%) are required by law to also pay CCL.
If you use less than 1,000kWh electricity or 4,397kWh gas in a given month, you will be exempt from paying CCL.
What is backbilling?
Back billing occurs when your supplier has been charging you too little for your energy supply. If that has been happening, the supplier needs to send you a back-bill to collect the outstanding amount. Back billing can happen when, for example, you have not beeing submitting meter readings and your bills have been issued based on estimated readings. Another situation when you might get a back-bill is when the supplier made a mistake in calculating your chargers.
Can I get a back-bill for more than a year?
When you receive a back-bill it is likely that the supplier has been charging you the wrong amount for an extended period of time. That is why back-bills, which happen unexpectedly, can add up to thousands of pounds. Luckily, the supplier can only back-date a back-bill for a period no longer than 12 months.
