Our Experience Using Veed.io

Niccolo Gas Video 3 Reasons You Should Check Your Meter Breakdown using Veed.io:

For this video, I’m looking to create an informative, shorter piece of content, using mainly video’s combined with text and music. Using the latest news about the price cap, and advice on meter readings set by suppliers, the premises of the video is a guide for customers & a countdown on reasons why you should check your meter.

When beginning to create this video, I browsed through the dozens of templates Veed.io has to offer. They are split into sections of Artistic, Audio, Energetic, Minimal, Showcase and Sophisticated, and can be selected in portrait, landscape and square mode (which is perfect for all platforms.) Eventually I settled on the template for “‘Team Year in Review’ in landscape, due to it being designed for a shorter style of video, and it can be shared on all socials (especially YouTube), fitting for a countdown video.

After loading the template, I imported a few videos that I had previously saved to use as a starting point for the project. The ‘Replace Video’ option was fantastic; it allowed me to replace the pre-set videos from the template with my own without having to retime the footage, because the clips from the template were already timed correctly.

I then added in the title I wanted to use, in this case being ‘3 Reasons You Should Check Your Meter,’ and adjusted the colors to Niccolo’s official branded colors. I did this by clicking the ‘more options’ button and selecting the button with the B (for box) & T (for text).

Veed.io has a range of transitions you can use between slides, I went with the ‘push left’ option, which moved the video along nicely. I found this to be similar looking to transitions used in previous videos, which is always good as it carries through the consistency of our content.

From here onwards it was really simple to continue using the software. Due to the template chosen there was already text boxes placed on each slide that I could amend and input the information I needed. I went with the font ‘Cabin’ for our text and Bebe Neue .

Another useful feature is the ‘YouTube’ option, which is something that’s never been available before on previous editing software’s I’ve used. This feature allows you to import a video through YouTube directly, by pasting the link of the video you’re looking to import and clicking ‘Add Video’. The usual way I add videos to projects is by either screen recording them from the required source, or by browsing through royalty-free libraries of footage (which by the way could be a useful feature that veed.io should incorporate in the future). But with this tool, one simple click and the content pasted is quickly added to your video.

In terms of music, I added our usual royalty free music easily through the ‘add media’ section, the same place you add your videos, and then dragged it into the project, adjusting it to the correct level of volume.

Exporting the video was quick and easy, taking only a minute to export and download.
