International Energy Week – Everything You Need to Know

International Energy Week is a global conference held on the 22nd – 24th February.

Oil and gas industry leaders will be joined by senior officials and influencers from the wider energy world, as well as government representatives, environmentalists, scientists and CEO’s, to assess what’s required for a net zero future at International Energy Week.

This event will be the first worldwide meeting of the energy industry to examine the outcomes of COP26 as well as the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The goal is to examine what will be needed to achieve global net zero emissions and fulfil the world’s energy demands.

What’s on?

The conference spans across 3 days, featuring a range of different talks addressing energy, net zero, climate change etc.

The event kicks off on the 22nd February at 8am with “Outcomes and reflections from COP26 – what are our next steps?”. This will cover the commitments and achievements made so far towards the Paris Climate Agreement, an assessment of the impacts and consequences of climate change & national and global performance towards achieving the UN’s SDGs. The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, who is Secretary of State, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy will be speaking at this.

Other speakers at the event include other political figures; The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC Secretary General for example will be speaking at ‘How shifts in energy will reshape global geopolitics. There are also many important business people discussing how technology and business can impact the road to net zero, including Patrick Pouyanné of Direct Énergie & Francesco Gattei of Eni.

Energy company CEO’s such as Greg Jackson FEI the Founder and CEO, Octopus Energy Group & Michael Lewis FEI who is the Chief Executive Officer of E. ON UK will be speaking, giving listeners insight into how they think Net Zero will be reached.
